What happens to the Pistons' player props without Jalen Duren?
In the 12 regular-season games Detroit played without Jalen Duren in 2025-26, against 70 with him, the Pistons scored 117.58 points a game (median 116) against 117.80 (median 115.5) and grabbed 44.75 rebounds (median 44.5) against 45.70 (median 45). Paul Reed went from 10.85 minutes, 6.06 points and 3.77 rebounds a game with Duren to 27.00 minutes, 15.25 points (median 12.5) and 7.83 rebounds (median 7.5) without him. Twelve games is a small sample spread over seven separate stretches, Cade Cunningham sat 5 of them, the cause of Duren's absences is unknown from our logs, and these are last season's numbers, not a forecast.
Jalen Duren will not play for Detroit at New York on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The ESPN injury feed lists him as out in an entry dated October 25, 2026; its comment says he “suffered the hamstring injury in Friday’s win over Miami and is set to miss an extended period”. Ausar Thompson (ankle) and Isaiah Joe (hip) are listed day-to-day in entries dated October 26. Detroit has played three games this season, two with Duren and one without him, so the comparisons below come mainly from last season: the Pistons played 82 regular-season games in 2025-26, Duren played 10 or more minutes in 70 of them, and 12 came without him. Our logs do not say why he missed those games, so the cause is unknown.
A game counts as with Duren when he played at least 10 minutes, a fifth of regulation. He played fewer than 20 minutes five times last season, the fewest 12, and those games count as with him. His last game of 2025-26 was April 10 at Charlotte (22 minutes, 20 points, 9 rebounds); he sat the finale on April 12 at Indiana. Of the 12 games without him, 6 were at home.
The Pistons, with Duren against without him
| Pistons per game (median) | With, 70 games | Without, 12 games |
|---|---|---|
| Points | 117.80 (115.5) | 117.58 (116) |
| Rebounds | 45.70 (45) | 44.75 (44.5) |
| Assists | 27.63 (28) | 28.92 (30) |
| Three-pointers | 10.50 (10) | 13.92 (14.5) |
Detroit scored and rebounded about the same without Duren, and made more threes: 13.92 a game against 10.50, a gap of 3.42 at the mean and 4.5 at the median. Twelve games is a small sample, and the rest of the roster changed across those games too, so read the gap as what happened, not as a rule.
Duren himself averaged 19.50 points, 10.53 rebounds and 1.97 assists in 28.26 minutes in the games he played.

Every figure is per game the player played, in the group of games shown. Games with and games without count the games each player appeared in, so a player who missed games himself has a smaller count than the group: Cunningham played 7 of the 12 games without Duren and sat 5, and Kevin Huerter’s first game for Detroit was February 5, so his columns are 21 and 4 games. Tolu Smith played 8 of the 12 games without Duren, 13.25 minutes a game (median 15.5) against 4.43 (median 3) in his 7 games with him, with 4.88 rebounds (median 3) against 1.43 (median 1).

Three of the 12 came against the Knicks, Tuesday’s opponent: Detroit scored 121 and 118 at home and 126 at New York, and Reed had 8, 12 and 18 points in those three. Reed’s 28 points on November 12 and 26 on April 12 are the two games that lift his mean above his median.
Two players who took front-court minutes in those games are not on this season’s roster. Isaiah Stewart played 7 of the 12, 26.14 minutes a game (median 29) with 14.29 points (median 14) and 5.43 rebounds (median 5), and Tobias Harris, now with San Antonio, played 5 of them at 28.40 minutes with 17.60 points (median 15) and 7.20 rebounds (median 6). Caris LeVert played 9 of the 12 and is gone too. So some of the minutes that opened last season went to players who are not there now.
Three games this season, one without him
On October 20 vs Boston the Pistons scored 121: Duren had 22 points and 9 rebounds in 28 minutes, Paul Reed 6 points and 6 rebounds in 17, and John Collins 6 points and 5 rebounds in 25. On October 23 at Miami the Pistons scored 128; Duren left after 10 minutes with 4 points and 6 rebounds, which counts as a game with him by the rule but is the one-game look at the team playing on without him: Reed had 19 points and 11 rebounds in 26 minutes, Collins 23 points and 7 rebounds in 29, and Daniss Jenkins 15 points in 22. On October 25 at Philadelphia, the one full game without him, the Pistons scored 106: Collins had 16 points and 11 rebounds in 34 minutes, Reed 8 points and 8 rebounds in 23, Ronald Holland II 9 rebounds in 23, Jenkins 18 points in 38 and Cade Cunningham 26 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists in 33; Ausar Thompson has no row in our log for that game, and Isaiah Joe played 4 minutes. One game is not a sample.
What this can and cannot tell you
The clearest shift tied to Duren’s role is Paul Reed’s: 16.15 more minutes a game, 9.19 more points and 4.06 more rebounds at the mean, and his rebounds held up at the median too (7.5 against 4). Javonte Green and Daniss Jenkins also played more and scored more, but Cunningham sat 5 of the 12 games, so part of that came from his absence rather than Duren’s.
The roster has changed since. John Collins, Isaiah Joe, Taurean Prince, Elijah Harkless, Ebuka Okorie and Ugonna Onyenso did not play for Detroit in 2025-26, and Collins has taken the most front-court minutes in the three games so far. Stewart and Harris, who took minutes in last season’s games without Duren, are gone. With the cause of last season’s absences unknown and the roster changed, none of this forecasts Tuesday’s game at New York, and none of it says anything about prices.

Quick answers
How many games did the Pistons play without Jalen Duren last season?
12 of their 82 regular-season games. A game counts as with Duren when he played at least 10 minutes, a fifth of regulation; he played 10 or more in the other 70. The 12 came in seven separate stretches: 3 in November, 4 in a row from January 4 to January 10, 3 in February, 1 on March 30 and the season finale on April 12, 2026.
What did Duren himself average?
In the 70 games he played in 2025-26, 19.50 points (median 19), 10.53 rebounds (median 10.5) and 1.97 assists (median 2) in 28.26 minutes a game (median 29).
Who rebounded more without him?
Paul Reed averaged 7.83 rebounds (median 7.5) in the 12 games without Duren against 3.77 (median 4) in 53 games with him, in 27.00 minutes against 10.85. Javonte Green averaged 4.08 (median 4) against 2.59 (median 2). As a team, Detroit grabbed 44.75 rebounds a game without him (median 44.5) against 45.70 (median 45).
Who scored more without him?
Paul Reed averaged 15.25 points (median 12.5) in the 12 games without Duren against 6.06 (median 6) in 53 with him. Daniss Jenkins averaged 12.17 (median 11) in 12 without against 8.75 (median 6) in 60 with, in 24.58 minutes against 19.30, and Javonte Green 10.50 (median 9) against 6.33 (median 6.5). Cade Cunningham sat 5 of the 12 games, so some of those minutes and points came from his absence, not Duren's.
Does this tell me what will happen at New York?
No. Twelve games is a small sample, Cunningham missed 5 of them, and John Collins, who has taken the most minutes in the front court this season, never played for Detroit in 2025-26. These numbers describe what happened; they do not forecast Tuesday, and they say nothing about the prices.
