Privacy
Short version: no account, no name, no tracking you across other sites, and nothing you type into a calculator ever leaves your browser.

What gets collected
Usage measurement
To know whether the Lab is worth building, we count how it is used. On your first visit the site stores a random identifier in your browser's local storage, along with the list of datesyou have opened the site. That is how "did anyone come back on a second day" gets answered without a login.
Alongside that we record which kind of page was opened (board, player, card, results), and which controls were used (a market filter, a sort, a book selection). The path of the page is recorded; the query string is not, because that is where a book choice or a search term would sit. Two day counts ride along: days on the site, and days on the Lab specifically, which are counted separately so that reading an article is not mistaken for using the product.
Email, if you give it
There is no email signup on the site at the moment, so no addresses are held. If that changes, this section will say exactly what is stored before the form goes up.
What is never collected
- Your name, address, phone number, or date of birth
- Any sportsbook account, login, or balance
- Any bet you place, anywhere, including bets on props you found here
- Anything typed into the calculators, which run entirely in your browser and post nothing
- Payment details of any kind; there is nothing to buy
Cookies, and what leaves your browser
The site sets no cookies. The identifier and the visit dates live in local storage on your device. The identifier itself is not transmitted: what gets sent with a usage event is the count of days, not the id that produced it, so the analytics provider receives "this visitor's second day" and never an identifier we assigned. Clearing site data for steezanomics.com deletes all of it and the next visit starts a fresh count.
If that ever changes, this paragraph changes with it and will name the provider receiving the identifier and what it is used for.
Who else sees it
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, so Cloudflare processes requests and may log them for security and delivery, as any host does.
The site also runs Cloudflare Web Analytics, which Cloudflare injects into every page. It is cookieless and does not identify or follow you between sites, and it records the page address, the referring site, and coarse device and performance information. Because it is added by the network rather than by this site's code, the opt-out below does not stop it; a tracker-blocking extension does.
Usage events go to Umami Cloud, a privacy-focused analytics service, on servers Umami says are located in the United States and the European Union. Umami records the page address, the referring site, and your browser, operating system, device type and country of origin. It derives the country from your IP address. Umami states that it stores no personally identifiable information, that the data it collects is anonymised, and that visitors are not tracked between sites. Its tracker sets no cookies. It is configured here to exclude query strings from the addresses it records, and to run only on steezanomics.com.
Email, if you give it, goes to the list provider that sends the newsletter. Nothing is sold, and nothing is shared with sportsbooks or advertisers.
Getting rid of it
Clear site data in your browser and the identifier and visit dates are gone. To have an email address removed, use the unsubscribe link or ask and it will be deleted. You can also ask what is held about you. Write to privacy@steezanomics.com and it will be answered.
Turning it off
To stop the usage measurement on a device, run this once in your browser's console on steezanomics.com:
localStorage.setItem('umami.disabled', '1')That is the key this site's own event layer checks, and also the one the analytics provider checks, so a single line stops both rather than half of them. Nothing further is sent, and no visit dates are recorded on that browser either.
It does not stop Cloudflare's edge-injected analytics described above, which this site cannot switch off from the page. A tracker-blocking extension does, and blocking is never worked around here.
Age
This site is for adults of legal betting age in their jurisdiction, 19+ in Ontario. It is not directed at anyone under that age and nothing here is knowingly collected from them.
Changes
If what is collected changes, the date at the top changes and the section describing it is rewritten before the change goes live, not after.
